Branded teas

                  20/01/24

Under this section, I have selected teas that have absolutely different appearances and more likely bizarre tastes, yet are drinkable. I used the ingredients I had at home.

Never mind the given names as I named these brews by their literary appearances and did not aim to upset this homepage visitors.

Bleeding brew

Recipe:
1 bag of black tea.

230ml hot water.

10g tomato purée.

Brewer's advice: Let the tea brew for 3 - 5 minutes.

Taste: Gently sour and bitter with sourness in the aftertaste, a little bit creamy.

Smell: Bitter with tender tomato purée aroma.

Colour: Auburn, cloudy, orange, red.

Additional notes: The flavour seemed not so bad. Interestingly that bitter flavour was gone, which made me conclude that sour flavour (in general) is a perfect solution to get rid of the bitterness tomato purée.

If you want to feel bitterness in the flavour, start with adding 5g of

Also, this might be my favourite brew from branded teas.

I would recommend you to stir the brew before drinking.

Additionally, I would named it as non-alcoholic bloody Mary.

Devil's brew

Black tea with nutmeg

Recipe:

1 bag of black tea.

230ml hot water.

1g nutmeg.

Brewer's advice: Let the tea brew for 3 - 5 minutes.

Taste:  Bitter with light long-lasting freshness in the mouth.

Smell:  Vividly nutmeg, like a wet sauna.

Colour: Dark amber.

Additional notes:  If you stir the brew before drinking then you can reduce bitterness flavour and taste tender nutmeg flavour. I assume it is caused by grounded nutmeg. Also, if you stir then tea will lose the strong bitter flavour and a light nutmeg taste appear.

Additionally, if you stir the brew it will get that magical almost black untransparent appearance which looks so weird.

Swamp brew

Black tea with green Pease water

Recipe:

1 bag of black tea.

190ml hot water.

40ml green pease water.

Brewer's advice: Let the tea brew for 3 - 5 minutes.

Taste: Specific, I could feel a light Pease water flavour with a gentle Pease aftertaste.

Smell: Gentle Pease.

Colour: At the beginning looks like moss, cloudy, but later turns into cloudy muddy water.

Additional notes: It is a very different brew, not only because of its taste but because of its colour too. It appeared really weird and unpleasant. I do not think that anyone who would see this tea would be happy to try it. Nevertheless, it did not have such a bad flavour. Interestingly, I could not feel bitterness in this tea's taste.

Vomit brew

Recipe:

1 bag of black tea.

230ml hot water.

25g ginger and garlic paste.

Brewer's advice: Let the tea brew for 3 - 5 minutes.

Taste:  Gently sour and spiced with sourness and dryness in the aftertaste.

Smell: Gentle garlic.

Colour: Bright and cloudy amber with white bits in it.

Additional notes: This brew's appearance along with stirring gives the impression that it looks like vomit, indeed. I would describe it as disgusting.

I added 25g of ginger and garlic paste to make sure, I could feel their flavours instead of just bitterness. Originally, I started with 10g. Interestingly that biter flavour has disappeared. At least it is not possible to detect it.
